Michael L. Gordon

Michael L. Gordon is the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Angelo, Gordon, and chairs the four-person Management Committee which is responsible for the management of the firm.  As CEO, Michael is responsible for the overall management of the firm; as CIO he manages the diverse investment ideas within each discipline to provide an appropriate balance of risk and reward.  He oversees the Research Department and is responsible for the quality and depth of research that is the hallmark of Angelo, Gordon. Michael began his career as a research analyst for L.F. Rothschild in 1970, specializing in the oil and oil service industries.  Michael served as Director of Research of L.F. Rothschild’s Arbitrage Department and became a Managing Director of the firm. Michael is on the Board of Directors of the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation and Conquer Cancer Foundation.  He is a Trustee of Colby College and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Michael has a B.A. degree from Colby College and a J.D. degree from Boston University Law School.

Josh Baumgarten

Josh Baumgarten is Angelo, Gordon’s Deputy Chief Investment Officer and a member of the four-person Management Committee responsible for the management of the firm.  He is also co-portfolio manager for AG Super Fund and multi-strategy portfolios.  Prior to joining Angelo, Gordon in 2016, Josh was a Senior Managing Director at Blackstone and focused on Blackstone Alternative Asset Management, the firm’s hedge fund solutions business.  At BAAM, which he joined in 2007, Josh oversaw credit investing and worked closely with some of the most well-regarded credit investors around the globe.  He played a key role in Blackstone’s global co-investment business.  Prior to Blackstone, Josh was a Portfolio Manager and trader at Blackrock, which he joined in 2000.  His principal focus was on Blackrock’s high-yield portfolios.  Josh started his career at Jefferies in investment banking and also spent time early in his career in venture capital investing.  Josh is a member of the Children’s Board at Columbia (Columbia University Medical Center).  He received a B.S. degree in Economics with concentrations in Finance and Accounting from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

David Kamin

David Kamin joined Angelo, Gordon in 1994 and is the co-portfolio manager for AG Super Fund, the firms’ multi-strategy portfolios and the distressed funds. Dave is a Managing Director and a member of the firm’s executive committee. He also oversees AG’s merger arbitrage efforts and plays an active role as an investment committee member for the firm’s energy investment funds.  Since he joined the firm, Dave has analyzed and executed on a diverse range of opportunities in arbitrage, opportunistic, distressed and structured credit situations. Dave holds a B.A. degree from Amherst College and an M.B.A. degree from Columbia Business School.

Gary Wolf

Gary Wolf joined Angelo, Gordon in 1993 and is the head of the firm’s convertible securities group. He is a Managing Director and a member of the firm’s executive committee.  Previously, Gary was an equity/fixed income analyst at Delta Asset Management in Memphis, Tennessee.  Gary is a Chartered Financial Analyst and received a B.A. degree from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.B.A. degree from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Maureen D’Alleva

Maureen D’Alleva joined Angelo, Gordon in 2003 and is head of the firm’s leveraged loan and high yield businesses and portfolio manager of the firm’s Northwoods Capital CLOs, the Diversified Credit Strategies and Income Funds and several separate accounts.  Maureen is a Managing Director and a member of the firm’s executive committee.  Prior to joining the firm, she spent 15 years with Morgan Stanley as a Vice President in its Global High Yield group where she focused on investment analysis and underwriting of both bank loans and bonds.  Maureen holds a B.A. degree from Baruch College.

Daniel Pound

Daniel Pound joined Angelo, Gordon’s London office in 2005 and is the firm’s Head of Europe. Dan is a Managing Director, leads the European Distressed Debt investment team, and is also a member of the firm’s executive committee. He is co-portfolio manager for the firm’s distressed funds. Prior to joining Angelo, Gordon, Dan was an adviser at Close Brothers Corporate Finance focusing on creditor side restructuring and mid-market mergers and acquisitions. Dan is a qualified chartered accountant (A.C.A.) having worked for KPMG in London and New York. Dan holds a BSc degree from University of London and an Executive M.B.A. degree issued jointly by the University of Edinburgh and ENPC (Paris).

Bryce Fraser

Bryce Fraser joined Angelo Gordon in 2016 and is a Managing Director in the distressed debt group.  Before joining Angelo Gordon, Bryce was a Managing Director at Watershed Asset Management focused on liquid corporate securities. Prior to that, he was a Managing Director in the Drawbridge Special Opportunities fund at Fortress Investment Group focused on distressed and special situation investments, an Associate on Merrill Lynch’s distressed trading desk and an analyst in the investment banking division at Credit Suisse First Boston.  Bryce holds an M.B.A. degree from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and a B.S. degree in accounting from the Pennsylvania State University.

John O’Meara

John O’Meara joined Angelo Gordon in 2016 and is a Managing Director in the distressed debt group. Before joining Angelo Gordon, John held a variety of positions at Morgan Stanley, including, most recently, Managing Director and Head of the Distressed Debt Desk analyst team in New York.  Prior to that, John was a member of the High Yield and Distressed Desk analyst teams at Morgan Stanley.  John received a B.A. degree in economics from the University of California, Davis.

Gordon J. Whiting

Gordon J. Whiting joined Angelo, Gordon in 2004 and is the founder and Portfolio Manager of the firm’s net lease real estate strategy. He is a Managing Director and a member of the firm’s executive committee. Gordon has over 20 years’ experience in this industry and previously was an Executive Director of W. P. Carey.  He was also the President and Portfolio Manager of Corporate Property Associates 14, Incorporated, one of W. P. Carey’s publicly-held, non-traded real estate investment trusts (with over $1.3 billion in assets) that invest in net leased commercial and industrial properties.  From 2002 to 2010, Gordon was a member of the five-person Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (the “FRTIB”), a position to which he was nominated by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.  The FRTIB oversees over $290 billion of 401(k) type retirement accounts (the Thrift Savings Plan) for most Federal employees and military personnel.  Gordon received a B.S. degree from Cornell University and an M.B.A. degree from Columbia University.

Sharon Kilmer

Sharon Kilmer joined Angelo, Gordon in 2004 and is a Managing Director for the firm’s net lease real estate strategy, overseeing the credit underwriting and research process. Prior to joining the net lease real estate team in 2009, Sharon was the Chief Investment Officer of Angelo, Gordon Advisors, LLC, a wholly-owned, externally managed fund of funds group. Sharon has over 18 years of broad fixed income investment management experience including portfolio management, credit analysis, trading, and hedging.  She has experience in managing pension and insurance assets and open and closed-end mutual funds, with an expertise in corporate credit. Previously, she was an Executive Vice President at Pacific Investment Management Company, where she was a senior member of the portfolio management and investment strategy groups and a corporate credit specialist.  Prior to that, she was Director of Fixed Income Portfolio Management at Transamerica Investment Services, where her duties included overall asset allocation and fixed income portfolio management for the Transamerica life insurance and pension assets.  Sharon received a B.A. degree in Journalism and an M.B.A. degree from the University of Southern California.  Sharon was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa in her junior year at USC.

Arthur Peponis

Arthur Peponis joined Angelo, Gordon in 2009 and is Head of the firm’s private equity area.  He is a Managing Director and a member of the firm’s executive committee.  Art is responsible for the deployment of capital and oversight of our private equity portfolio and sits on all of our portfolio companies’ boards.  Before joining Angelo, Gordon, Art was a Partner at Goldman, Sachs & Co. and the Chief Operating Officer of the Financial Sponsors Group in New York where he sourced over $3 billion of investments for Goldman’s Principal Investment Area.  Art holds an A.B. degree from Princeton University and an M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School.

Adam Schwartz

Adam Schwartz is a member of the four-person Management Committee which is responsible for the management of Angelo, Gordon and is the head of the firm’s United States/Europe real estate group. He has been directly responsible for, or overseen, in excess of $10 billion of real estate assets since joining Angelo, Gordon in 2000.  Adam has significant experience in the acquisition and repositioning of all property types.  Prior to joining the firm, Adam worked in the acquisitions group at Vornado Realty Trust, a public real estate investment trust. His work focused on the acquisition of public and private real estate companies in addition to single asset acquisitions.  Adam is a member of the executive committee of the Zell-Lurie Real Estate Center at The Wharton School and is a trustee of the Urban Land Institute.  He is also a member of the board of directors of The Catalog for Giving.  Adam received a B.A. degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Reid Liffmann

Reid Liffmann joined Angelo, Gordon's real estate group in 2010.  He is a Managing Director and a member of the firm’s executive committee.  Reid assists in the oversight and management of the firm's real estate investments in the U.S. and Europe, and is co-portfolio manager with Adam Schwartz of the U.S. opportunistic and core plus real estate funds.  Reid has over 20 years of direct real estate ownership and operating experience with a focus on development, redevelopment and asset repositioning.  Formerly, Reid was a partner with Greenebaum & Rose Associates, a real estate development and investment firm focusing on the mid-Atlantic.  Reid was previously one of Angelo Gordon’s operating partners and completed several real estate transactions with the firm.  Reid began his career as a real estate financial analyst at LaSalle Partners.  He holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from The George Washington University and an M.B.A. degree from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Wilson Leung

Wilson Leung joined Angelo, Gordon in 2002 and is the head of Angelo, Gordon’s Asian real estate activities.  He is a Managing Director and a member of the firm’s executive committee.  Wilson was originally hired to work on U.S. real estate investments in the firm’s New York office, and was chosen to lead the firm’s effort to expand its real estate investment activities into Asia.  Wilson established the firm’s Hong Kong office in mid-2005 and was based in the region for approximately eight years.  Wilson has been directly responsible for, or overseen, in excess of $3 billion of real estate assets at the firm.  Before joining the firm, Wilson was a management consultant for Bain & Company, a strategy consulting firm in San Francisco.  Previously, Wilson managed a small real estate portfolio for a non-profit institution.  He received a B.S. degree from Cornell University.  Wilson is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English.

Steven Cha

Steven Cha is a Managing Director based in Seoul and is co-portfolio manager of Asia real estate with Wilson Leung.  He is also the head of Angelo, Gordon’s real estate activities in Korea. Previously, he was the head of the firm’s real estate activities in Korea and Japan.  Steven has been responsible for investments and dispositions in wide array of property types including commercial, residential, retail, and industrial properties with a focus on asset repositioning, redevelopment and ground-up development.  Prior to joining the Asia real estate team in 2006, Steven worked at Deutsche Bank in Korea for five years, where he was responsible for investments in commercial properties and non‐performing loans.  Before that, he worked in mergers & acquisitions and corporate finance at Merrill Lynch & Co.’s Korea and New York offices.  Steven holds B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Chicago and an M.B.A. degree from the Harvard Business School.  He is fluent in Korean and English.

Steve White

Steve White is the regional head of Angelo, Gordon’s Los Angeles office and is responsible for the firm’s real estate activities in the western U.S.  Prior to joining Angelo, Gordon in 2004, Steve worked in the real estate investment banking group at Goldman where he participated in the disposition and recapitalization of office, retail, hotel, and multi-family properties.  Previously, Steve was a partner and co-founder of a private real estate investment company in the Los Angeles area.  Steve holds an A.B. degree from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. degree from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Dana Roffman

Dana Roffman joined Angelo, Gordon’s real estate group in 1994. Dana has extensive experience with repositioning real estate assets and oversees Angelo, Gordon’s assets in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Previously, Dana worked in the Real Estate Services Group of Arthur Andersen & Co. in Washington, DC, where she performed appraisals and portfolio valuations throughout the United States for financing, acquisition, and management purposes. Dana holds a B.A. degree from Duke University and an M.B.A. degree from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business.

Anuj Mittal

Anuj Mittal is a Managing Director and co-portfolio manager of European real estate with Adam Schwartz, focusing on real estate opportunities in the United Kingdom and Europe. Prior to re-joining Angelo, Gordon in 2008, Anuj was self-employed as a real estate developer focusing on office redevelopments in Germany and The Netherlands. Before that, Anuj worked for Cerberus Capital Management where he purchased and managed opportunistic real estate portfolios throughout Europe. Between 2004 and 2006, Anuj worked for Angelo, Gordon in New York focusing on real estate opportunities in the U.S. Prior to Angelo, Gordon, Anuj was a member of the U.S. investing team for the Morgan Stanley Real Estate Funds. He holds a B.S. degree from Johns Hopkins University. Anuj speaks Dutch, Hindi and English.

Jon Tanaka

Jon Tanaka is a Managing Director based in Tokyo and is the head of Angelo, Gordon’s real estate activities in Japan.  Prior to joining the Asia real estate team in 2009, Jon was a Managing Director at RREEF Japan where he worked for eleven years and was a founding member of RREEF’s Japan platform. At RREEF, Jon was head of portfolio management and responsible for a $1.5 billion portfolio of opportunistic, value added and core plus properties. Previously, he worked for Bankers Trust Company in New York and Fuji Xerox Co. in Japan. Jon received a B.A. degree from Harvard University and an M.B.A. degree from the University of California at Berkeley, and attended the Graduate School of Architecture at Kyoto University.  He is fluent in Japanese and English.

Ken Ng

Ken Ng is a Managing Director based in Hong Kong and is the head of Angelo, Gordon’s real estate activities in China. Prior to joining the Asia real estate team in 2006, Ken was responsible for sourcing and executing real estate investments for Bank of China investments in Hong Kong. Before that, Ken worked at Goldman where he managed non-performing loan portfolios and distressed real estate assets in China. Previously, he was at CCAFM Co. in the real estate valuations group. Ken holds a B.A. degree from Wuyi University in China, an M.B.A. degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and an M.S. degree from New York University and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.  He is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English.

Andrew Solomon

Andrew Solomon joined Angelo, Gordon in 2006 to establish the firm’s commercial real estate debt business.  He is a Managing Director, a member of the firm’s executive committee and Co-Head of the firm’s Structured Credit Platform.  Andrew is the portfolio manager for the firm’s Real Estate Debt Investment Fund and several closed-ended funds and separate accounts.  Prior to joining Angelo, Gordon, Andrew was a Vice President at NorthStar Realty Finance where he was a member of the company’s investment committee and responsible for all aspects of the company’s securities business. Prior to joining NorthStar, Andrew was an Associate in the Real Estate Investment Banking Group at CIBC World Markets and was an Audit Manager for Arthur Andersen & Co. Andrew is a Certified Public Accountant. Andrew is a member of the Commercial Real Estate Finance Council and a member of Washington University’s Arts & Sciences National Council. He holds a B.A. degree from Washington University and an M.B.A. degree from the University of Chicago.

Rick Finger

Rick Finger is a Managing Director and joined Angelo Gordon’s real estate debt group in 2009 and focuses on analysis, trading and surveillance of commercial real estate debt investments.  Prior to joining Angelo, Gordon, Rick was a Principal at Bank of America where he traded both CMBS and collateralized debt obligations.  Before joining Bank of America, he was a Vice President and Portfolio Analyst with Natexis Banques Popular.  Rick is a Chartered Financial Analyst.  Currently, he serves on the University of North Carolina Board of Visitors.  He holds a B.A. degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an M.B.A. degree from Vanderbilt University.

Jonathan Lieberman

Jonathan Lieberman  joined Angelo, Gordon in 2008 as head of the firm’s residential mortgage securities business and in 2017 became Co-Head of the firm’s Structured Credit Platform.  He is a Managing Director and a member of the firm’s executive committee.   Prior to joining the firm, Jonathan worked at Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. as a Senior Managing Director in the Strategic Finance/Financial Institutions Group, primarily focused on the Specialty Finance Sector.  Before that, Jonathan was a Senior Analyst in the Structured Finance Group of Moody's Investors Service and an attorney in the New York and Los Angeles offices of the law firm Dewey Ballantine LLP, where he specialized in securities law and structured finance.  Jonathan is a board member of the Association of Mortgage Investors and a board member and President of AG Mortgage Investment Trust. He is also on the Board of Managers for Arc Home LLC.  Jonathan holds a B.A. degree from Vassar College and a J.D. degree from Hofstra University School of Law.

Yong Joe

Yong Joe joined Angelo, Gordon in 2008 and is a Managing Director and co-Portfolio Manager of the firm’s residential and consumer debt securities portfolios and head of the quantitative research team.  Prior to joining Angelo, Gordon, Yong worked at CapitalSource as head of quantitative research focused on residential mortgages. Prior to CapitalSource, he was a Principal Economist at Fannie Mae in Credit Policy Research. Yong holds a B.A. degree from Rutgers University, an M.A. degree from Fordham University and a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia.

Thomas Durkin

Thomas Durkin joined Angelo, Gordon in 2008 and is a Managing Director and co-Portfolio Manager of the firm’s residential mortgage and consumer debt securities portfolio. T.J. also serves as a board member of Arc Home, Angelo Gordon’s affiliated mortgage originator and GSE licensed servicer. Prior to joining Angelo, Gordon & Co., T.J. began his career at Bear, Stearns & Co. where he was a Managing Director on the Non-Agency Trading focused on structuring and trading of multiple asset classes, including subprime, Alt-A, second lien and small balance commercial. T.J. earned his Bachelor’s degree in finance from the Fordham University and currently serves as a member of the school’s President Council.  He is also a board member of VE International, a non for profit focused on preparing high school students for college and careers through skills learned an entrepreneurship based curriculum.

Jason Biegel

Jason Biegel joined Angelo, Gordon in 2013 and is the head of the Residential Whole Loan strategy. Jason focuses on building and developing the firm’s residential whole loan investment efforts.  Prior to joining Angelo, Gordon, Jason worked at Lone Star Funds where he was the head of the residential whole loans business platform.  Previously, Jason was a Senior Managing Director at Bear, Stearns & Co. where he worked on the Mortgage Trading Desk in New York.  Jason holds a B.A. degree from Rutgers University.

Energy Credit Senior Professionals

Todd Dittmann

Todd Dittmann joined Angelo, Gordon in 2013 to lead the firm’s energy credit strategy. He is a Managing Director and a member of the firm’s executive committee.  Todd is a seasoned and experienced investment professional who has spent more than 20 years in energy finance.  His experience includes the closing of approximately 140 debt, equity, M&A, derivative-linked and other energy related transactions, most of which he completed as a principal investor or lead lender.  Before joining Angelo, Gordon, Todd formed Poydras Resource Capital LLC, a firm focused on credit opportunities in the energy sector and affiliated with Global Hunter Securities. Todd brought the Poydras team to Angelo, Gordon.  Previously, Todd was a direct lender at Petrobridge Capital and D.B. Zwirn & Co.; a senior bank lender at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey and the Chase Manhattan Bank; and a senior investment banker at Jefferies & Co. and other sell-side firms.  His investing and board experience includes both public and private companies.  Todd holds a B.B.A. degree with a concentration in finance and an M.B.A. degree from the University of Texas, Austin and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

David Taylor

David Taylor is a Managing Director in Angelo, Gordon’s energy credit strategy.  David was most recently a principal and Managing Director of Weisser, Johnson & Co. (WJCO), an energy investment banking boutique which also provided reservoir engineering services as a Texas Board of Professional Engineers Registered Engineering Firm.  With his partners at WJCO, David was a founding partner of GasRock Capital LLC, an investment firm formed in 2005 to make debt and project equity investments in oil and gas companies.  Prior to formation of GasRock Capital LLC, David was responsible for all technical evaluation at WJCO.  He is a registered professional engineer and worked in numerous technical and management roles with Exxon Company USA, Transco Energy Company, Aquila Energy Resources and Halliburton Energy Development.  David holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from Oklahoma State University.

Damon Putman

Damon Putman joined Angelo, Gordon in 2013 to work in the firm’s energy credit group.  He is a Managing Director.  Damon was most recently CFO of Torch Energy Advisors, a private energy company with 40 employees and investments in the upstream, midstream and renewable energy sectors and a member of its executive committee.  He oversaw financial, treasury, accounting, cash management and IT functions, and managed its private equity and bank relationships as well as its general investor relations.  Damon has experience working on a variety of transactions including first and second lien debt, mezzanine debt, and minority and project equity investments.  Damon holds a B.B.A. degree from the University of Texas, Austin.

Eitan Bernstein

Eitan Bernstein joined Angelo, Gordon in 2016 and is a Managing Director in the firm’s energy credit group.  Prior to joining the firm, Eitan served as senior investment analyst for Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co.’s (TPH) long-short energy credit hedge fund where he built models and maintained active coverage of over 60 Exploration and Production and 15 Oilfield Service companies.   Prior to TPH, Eitan worked at Wayzata Investment Partners for six years where he generated, evaluated and managed private and public oil and gas credit investments. Eitan also has prior experience as a sell-side oil stock analyst. Eitan received his B.B.A. degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his M.B.A. degree and J.D. degree from the University of Houston. Eitan is a CFA charterholder.

Middle Market Direct Lending Senior Professionals

Trevor Clark

Trevor Clark joined Angelo, Gordon in 2014 to establish the firm’s middle market direct lending loan business.  He is a Managing Director and a member of the firm’s executive committee.  Prior to joining Angelo, Gordon, Trevor was a co-founder and C.E.O. of Madison Capital Funding LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of New York Life Investments where he oversaw all operational and strategic activities of the middle market lending operation.  At Madison Capital, Trevor led the Executive Committee that was responsible for all credit granting decisions and managed the relationship with New York Life Investments and other third party investors.  Prior to forming Madison Capital, Trevor held various positions in loan underwriting and origination at Antares Capital, GE Capital, and Bank of America.   He holds a B.A. degree from the University of Iowa, Iowa City and an M.B.A. degree from Indiana University, Bloomington.

Christopher Williams

Christopher Williams joined Angelo, Gordon in 2014 to establish the firm’s middle market direct lending loan business.  He is a Managing Director and a member of the firm’s executive committee.  Prior to joining Angelo, Gordon, Chris was a co-founder of Madison Capital Funding LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of New York Life Investments where he was part of the Executive Committee and Group Head for the organization’s specialty lending businesses (Healthcare, Insurance & Financial Services and Microcap).  Additionally, at Madison Capital, Chris was a member of the Investment Committee for all investment decisions and directed the firm’s HR functions and promotional activities.  Prior to forming Madison Capital, Chris held various positions in loan underwriting and origination at Cochran, Caronia & Co., GE Capital, and Bank of America.   He holds a B.S. degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana and an M.B.A. degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago.
