James Idol is a Managing Director at TPG based in Los Angeles. James joined TPG Angelo Gordon’s real estate group in 2021. He is responsible for the platform’s real estate activities in Southern California and the Southwest. Prior to joining TPG Angelo Gordon, James worked for Goldman Sachs’ Merchant Banking Division as a Vice President, where he was responsible for acquisitions on the west coast. Prior to Goldman Sachs, James practiced law in New York for Jones Day’s Mergers and Acquisitions department. James holds a B.S. from the University of Maryland in Finance and Accounting, and his J.D. from Georgetown Law.
