Recognizing National Intern Day 2023
July 27, 2023
This National Intern Day, we celebrate the 25 interns who have made a significant impact at Angelo Gordon over the summer.
This summer, our diverse intern class is working with 13 teams across the firm, gaining hands-on industry and firm experience, building new networks, and having some fun along the way!
Angelo Gordon’s internship program provides college students and recent grads with exposure to various aspects of the alternative investment industry through the work they do with their teams. “It’s important for me to have opportunities for learning and growth, and my team has presented me with many opportunities this summer,” said Justin Ko, an intern on the U.S. Real Estate team. “One of the lessons I’ve learned is that Real Estate is a people business—deal-making is about more than just numbers because human decision-making plays a large role.” Ellie Page, a Real Estate Asset Management team intern, said, “The opportunity to work with the Real Estate Asset Management team has been exciting for me because I’ve been exposed to a large variety of projects, and I’ve really enjoyed working with several different team members who have been supportive as I’ve learned about the industry and the fundamentals of investment modeling.”
Beyond their work on their teams, interns were invited to a series of “teach-in” sessions where they learned about various business areas to gain a more wholistic view of the firm and industry. “It’s been great this summer to learn about a whole new industry and just soak things in like a sponge,” said Client Partnership Group intern John Cham. “By being involved in projects like designing the team’s SharePoint and building reports through Excel and PowerPoint to make large datasets more accessible, I’ve gotten hands-on experience that I never could have gotten from a college course.”
Throughout the summer, our interns become integrated within their teams and the firm’s broader, inclusive culture. “Angelo Gordon has given me an extremely intellectually stimulating, rewarding, and fun introduction to the world of credit,” said Sruthi Morusupalli, an intern on the Performing Credit team. “My team encourages me to be vocal about my interests and questions every single day, and is so intentional in providing me with learning opportunities and projects that align with my goals.”
We continue to be proud of the internship experience offered at Angelo Gordon and extend a heartfelt “thank you” to the 2023 intern class for all they’ve contributed while at the firm. We also thank our diversity recruitment partners, including Girls Who Invest, the Robert Toigo Foundation, The Posse Foundation, SEO and 10,000 Black Interns, for helping our program reach candidates from a broad range of backgrounds each year.
